Senior Manager, Professional Learning Services
Lydia Freeman Kumar is a senior manager of professional learning services with Public Impact®, focused primarily on leading Opportunity Culture® professional learning for educators. Before joining the team, Kumar worked as a teacher leader at KIPP Gaston College Preparatory in Gaston, North Carolina. Before that, she taught English at the school, where her students regularly exceeded expected learning growth. Kumar also served as a Teach For America corps member, teaching fifth-grade science and social studies in Northampton County, North Carolina. She holds a B.A. in English and communication from Bluefield College.
Example Projects: Kumar’s recent work includes leading Opportunity Culture® professional learning work, which includes content for aspiring Multi-Classroom Leader™ educators, district leaders, and current Opportunity Culture® educators. She also supports Mathematica with a study involving the impact of teacher leadership on student results. Before shifting focus to professional learning, she consulted on school design work in Texas and in Guilford County Schools, a large implementing North Carolina district.
