Heather Highsmith

Consultant

Heather Highsmith is a consultant at Public Impact®, focused primarily on assisting schools and districts with Opportunity Culture® design and implementation to extend the reach of excellent teachers and their teams. Highsmith began her teaching career as an educator in Armidale, New South Wales, Australia, supporting Aboriginal students with personalized learning pathways and community outreach programs. After returning to the United States, Highsmith was an elementary school teacher in multiple districts in Pennsylvania and Texas. Most recently, she held leadership roles as a math and science instructional specialist and math interventionist in Klein Independent School District in Texas, where she designed and implemented a schoolwide response to intervention program. She worked closely with teachers and administrators to identify students needing support both in and out of the classroom. Highsmith holds a B.S. in early childhood education from Lock Haven University, and a M.Ed. in instructional technology from Wilkes University.
