Emily Ayscue Hassel
Co-President
Emily Ayscue Hassel is Co-President of Public Impact®. She provides thought leadership and oversight to the firm’s work on teacher and leader policy and emerging opportunities for dramatic improvement in pre–K to grade 12 education. Hassel is the chief designer of the firm’s Opportunity Culture® initiative, an effort to help schools reach more students with excellent teachers and principals and provide more educators with paid residencies, on-the-job support, and paid career advancement. She leads the team to increase Opportunity Culture® schools’ learning impact and to lower the cost of services for districts, to reach more students with high-growth learning. Hassel was a Pahara-Aspen Teacher Leader Fellow, in a group designed to cultivate and support teacher leaders who are working to improve the teaching profession and student outcomes. She was previously a consultant and manager for the Hay Group. Hassel received her law and master in business administration degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she served on the North Carolina Law Review.
Example projects: Hassel co-authored, among others, numerous practical tools to redesign schools for instructional and leadership excellence. She co-authored, with Bryan Hassel, the chapter on rethinking school staffing in the book Getting the Most Bang for the Education Buck.
