A Professional Learning Module

written by publicimpact on November 1, 2016

A Professional Learning Module

coaching-action-fg-coverSuccessfully leading a school turnaround is difficult work that requires leaders to have specific underlying competencies and to take strategic, high-leverage actions. This professional learning module, developed through a partnership between the Center on Great Teachers and Leaders, the Center on School Turnaround, Public Impact, and the University of Virginia Darden/Curry Partnership for Leaders in Education, provides state and district leaders with tools to coach and develop school turnaround leaders to take key leader actions.

Participants will:

  • Understand the connection between turnaround leader competencies and the actions of successful turnaround principals and leadership teams.
  • Learn strategies for coaching and developing turnaround principals and supporting implementation of key turnaround leader actions.

Materials include a facilitator’s guide, a PowerPoint presentation, handouts, and a school leader development plan template in Excel. Download copies of each file below, or request copies of the materials in Microsoft Word format by e-mailing gtlcenter@air.org.

These materials may be used and adapted to fit the needs of the state and local context.
