KIMBERLY MIRAMONTES is the outreach and strategy coordinator at Public Impact, supporting growth of the national Opportunity Culture initiative. Before joining Public Impact, Ms. Miramontes served as a North Carolina LiteracyCorps member. In this role, she worked with the North Carolina Literacy Association to extend its programmatic reach to adult education literacy councils across the state. Additionally, she worked for Partners for Success, a support office within Duke University’s Program in Education, which coordinates a service-learning program providing tutors to Durham Public Schools. Ms. Miramontes holds a B.A in public policy and global studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Why I Do This Work: “I believe that K–12 education cannot become equitable without rethinking how schools are structured. I love supporting the Opportunity Culture initiative because it does this in a way that puts student learning and teacher development first.”
