IZZI HERNANDEZ-CRUZ is a consultant with Public Impact, conducting research and quantitative analyses of school and district performance metrics to support strong accountability and turnaround evaluation efforts in both traditional and charter schools. Before joining Public Impact, Mr. Hernandez-Cruz served in schools for two years as an AmeriCorps member, working as a class monitor, substitute teacher, and basketball coach in Silver Spring, Md., and tutoring and mentoring fifth-graders in math in Columbia, S.C. He also worked as an intern for the N.C. Department of Public Instruction. Mr. Hernandez-Cruz holds a master’s degree in public policy from the Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University and a B.S. in political science with a concentration in public policy from Clemson University.
