ERIN BURNS MEHIGAN is a consultant working with the Opportunity Culture implementation team, supporting districts and schools to reach more students with excellent teaching. Before joining Public Impact, she served as an assistant principal at a top-performing middle school in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Ms. Mehigan, a 2015–16 Opportunity Culture Fellow, previously served as a high school science multi-classroom leader (MCL) for the Project LIFT turnaround initiative in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools. Under her leadership as their new MCL, her team, which had previously experienced more than three years of negative student learning growth and proficiency, increased growth and proficiency year over year, through Ms. Mehigan’s student data analysis, co-teaching, lesson creation, and feedback and support. Ms. Mehigan holds an M.A. in educational leadership from the Summer Principals Academy at Columbia University Teachers College, and a B.A. in biology with minors in education and entrepreneurship from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which she attended as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow.
