ASHLEY WILLIAMS is a consultant with Public Impact, focused primarily on assisting districts and schools in Opportunity Culture implementation to extend the reach of excellent teachers and their teams. Before joining Public Impact, Ms. Williams served as a data specialist for the accountability office within Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools. Prior to that, she served as one of the first Opportunity Culture multi-classroom leaders in the country, leading a team of English language arts teachers through intensive coaching and feedback, modeling instruction, co-teaching, data analysis, and co-planning, with formal accountability for the learning outcomes of all 370 students served by the team. Under her leadership, the team’s students dramatically increased their end-of-grade reading scores, which contributed to the school achieving the fourth-highest reading growth index out of more than 160 schools in 2014–15. Ms. Williams also previously worked for the Piedmont Triad region of Teach For America as the director of teacher leadership continuum. She holds an M.A. in educational leadership from Queens University of Charlotte, and a B.A. in broadcast journalism from the University of Kentucky.
